A Birth Doula is a professionally trained individual who provides support to a birthing person and their partner (if applicable). The support comes in several different forms.
Proving evidence based information to enable expectant parents to feel empowered by knowledge.
Having a baby is one of life's most transformative moments. A doula is there to support parents to be in this exciting yet, overwhelming experience.
To voice your wishes and ensure they heard and respected.
A Birth Doula is armed with the skills and knowledge to physically support the birthing person through the labor by providing an array of comfort measures to ensure the birthing person can labor as comfortably as possible.
A Birth doula is someone you should feel entirely comfortable with. You are inviting them into a sacred space, where lifelong memories are created and those memories need to be one you can cherish for a lifetime.
Meet and Greet:
I like to ensure my potential clients get the opportunity to get a feel for me, the person I am and the energy I bring to ensure they feel it is an appropriate match for them. To do this, I schedule obligation free “Meet and Greet” calls via zoom, or if preferred, I offer a face to face catch up at a central location suitable for all. Once we've had the opportunity to meet each other, I keep my booking space open to clients 7 days from the call.
Initial Consultation:
This is an opportunity to touch base on a deeper level, schedule in our prenatal appointments, and ensure that all paperwork has been completed to ensure your Doula Support is locked in.
Prenatal Catch Ups:
These catch ups are utilised for us all to continue to get to know and and other and get comfortable with each other, discuss previous birth (if applicable), any fears/ concerns, discuss wishes and hopes for the impending birth, provide both the birthing person and their partner with effective comfort measures to help deal with early and active labour, and a discussion around how I will support them, their expectations of me and the process we'll follow when labor begins.
On Call:
I will be on call from 37 weeks through to 42 weeks. This does not mean to say, should labor occur post or prior this period of time that I won't be in attendance, it is merely a guide.
Postnatal Catch Up:
This is where we debrief on the birth experience and I gauge how you are going and if there are any resources I can provide to assist the family.
Investment:
The support outlined above is $1,400 +GST.
Capacity:
I prefer to take on one birthing person per month to ensure my clients get the best possible service and also to reduce the likelihood of me burning out. I am currently not taking any bookings for 2024.
